FROM THE PLANNER:
“The inspiration behind this beautiful styled shoot came from the 2015 colour of the year “Marsala”. Given the incredible richness of this colour, I was inspired to translate it into a soft, romantic and glamorous concept. Words such as “luxurious, alluring, unique, feminine, softness, enchanting and details” were driving forces behind the creation all while adding a subtle hint of mystery.
Hastings Lake Gardens provided a fantastic outdoor shooting location with the most amazing golden hour light.
The marsala and deep red tones set the stage and were incorporated throughout the shoot in the florals, stationary, napkins, red velvet macarons as favours under an adorable mini cloche, and of course completed our bride’s look with an incredible deep red lip and nail colour.
Breaking up the red hues were beautiful antique gold accents by incorporating gold cutlery, mini cloche bases and gold-rimmed glasses and plates. “Mine” and “Yours” signs added an additional adorable detail to the accent chairs and gold candle pillars helped to balance out the amazing asymmetrical centrepiece.
Finally the garden and wood theme was added through a handmade moss seating chart, and real leaf chair caps and table runner.
The table look was completed with a statement floral chandelier suspended between two large trees which mirrored the flowers used throughout the rest of the shoot.
Our bride was dressed in a simple but elegant Ti Adora dress which draped beautifully as she stood on a swing with leaf garlands wrapped around the ropes further adding to the alluring beauty of the shoot. With simple loose curls, she wore a stunning floral headpiece, which complimented the full bouquet.
The cake was small but made a statement. Tying our colours and theme together it featured a textured gold bottom, a simple white top and was finished off with dark red sugar flowers. Taking the garland, which had been tied around the swing ropes, our cake styling was completed by wrapping it around the bottom of the cake stand with red florals accents completing the look.
The invitations and stationary once again tied in our colour scheme and added a subtle vintage touch with an antique key detail and gold calligraphy. The menu was uniquely displayed under a cloche, again, adding to that enchanted feeling.
Bringing this together it was really important to me to make most elements attainable for the every day bride and translate it into her wedding day. “
